Today was a good day

Imagine Ice Cube's "Today Was A Good Day" playing right about now. That's it. Really get into it... matter of fact, hold up a sec... (internet searching, internet searching... bleeep bleeep bleeep)...

Here you go:

Just hit play on that and continue reading. It will serve as the background music for this post.

When I woke up this morning I was greeted by a really gray sky, which made me go back to sleep. I figured it was still pretty early in the morning. It turns out, today's weather was just really awful. By aweful I mean sleet and snow and a -40 degree windchill. I took down a long list of numbers the other day to try and start a sledding club, and the first sledding excursion was meant for this afternoon. However, I quickly cancelled it because I love sledding, but not enough to die of hypothermia.

I got dressed and talked to my mom, who I had arranged with earlier to receive a ride to Guitar Center, who were having a sale. I walked in, looked at the workstation, and picked up the beautiful Yamaha MM6. It is cheap (well, compared to other workstations) and it sounds great, plus now I don't have to trek to St. Paul to tinker around on a piano. (For those of you that don't know, I rarely buy anything: A) Because I have no money and B) Because I don't really like to have a lot of stuff. However, it was my birthday recently, so, it felt alright, that and I got a little help from ma dukes and Pablo).

After Guitar Center I went to help my mom with her Target/Grocery shopping, which was a part of the agreement on me receiving a ride. It was cool though, I picked the right day because it was free food samples day and I had some bomb apple cider. I went back three times and on the third I felt complelled to tell the lady I would buy some because I felt guilty. So I carried the apple-cider brewing kit around to the opposite side of the store and deposited it among the deodorant. I don't own a coffee maker and I definitely wouldn't buy a 10 dollar pack of apple-cider spice.

I got home, set up my work station and just went crazy with the arpeggiator for about an hour. Then I realized that I really had a lot of stuff to do so I managed to pull myself away and do the dishes, sweep the floors, take out the trash, and so forth. Oh, and laundry too.

Luckily while doing this I happened to turn on the television and catch a great episode of Law & Order Criminal Intent. If you know me well enough you know I love this show. This is what my television loves break down to:

-Law & Order Criminal Intent
-Good Eats
-Arrested Development
-Antiques Roadshow
-The Office (although this season's been a bit disappointing)

I also watch a lot of Flip that House... or I used to. I don't love that one though, I was just interested when my job was construction and I was primarily dealing with flipping houses (rather apartments)... Oh, to be back in an economy where flipping houses was viable...

Also I caught up on my Netflix this weekend and watched "Closer," "Who Killed the Electric Car," and "The Evil Dead." These movies were all good, although "Who Killed the Electric Car" just got depressing and then boring towards the end. It dragged on, and that drawn out death of the electric car was unfortunately not good viewing. I have never seen "The Evil Dead" before and I have to admit that I loved it. Pretty amazing special effects for the 80's, and it was a good combo of funny/b-movie terrible/awesome/scary. Along with sledding club I think I have to start a zombie movie netflix night... that or just invite over fellow zombie enthusiast Alex Brown.

So, to recap, although the weather outside if frightful, my MM6 is so delightful, and as long as I've no place to go, let it snow let it snow let it snow...

Happy Holidays and stuff.
