Check Yourself Before You Wriggity-Wreck Yourself

This morning I was checked hard by the universe. I walked into drawing class to encounter the figure model we had today. My first thoughts were, "Oh man, they got a Halloween themed model."

This lady was rather large, balding in the middle of her head, and shaking. I honestly have never wished for anyone to keep their clothes on as much I wanted her to. A few of my classmates actually laughed and averted their eyes... Now don't get me wrong, I'm as much of a judgmental asshole as he next person, but it sucks when someone can't keep it to themselves and actually makes the other other person feel bad.

Then, the universe came up and slapped me with guilt when the model proceeded to tell us that she might look a little weird because she has brain cancer, and has gained over 100 pounds due to all the steroids and medication she has had to take. She proceeded to tell us in a slow slur that she was really lucky because she's made it 5 years with this brain tumor, and it's taken away her vocal capacities, but that's better than the 6 month the doctor gave her to live. So then I sat in awe as this woman with brain cancer exposed herself to a bunch of assholes, and kept coaching everyone and telling them they were doing a great job...

I definitely would never show up and keep working if I had brain cancer. Especially when it meant being exposed to a bunch of college students in a drawing 1 class.

So basically, thanks universe for putting me in check. I drew a nice drawing, and will continue on trying to stop being such an asshole.
