Defibrillator Fingers: Clear

If you read last night's blog I was distraught over ruining a certain drawing of a bear and Goldilocks. My use of water-soluble ink and then watercolors turned into a disaster, with bleeding lines and sighs of frustration.

Well, thanks to the magic of colored pencils, it seems I may have turned myself around a bit. I first re-inked lines that were lost to the war, then went in and added texture to the drawing by adding hairs with a white colored pencil, which also helped give the bear a more three dimensional shape. I came back in with a dark brown and beefed up the shadows, as well as adding a few wispy hairs here and there to increase the fullness of the bear's coat. I added small highlights on the nose and teeth to round out this group of changes.
I Also beefed up the background with fuller greens and yellows, and added more shadows to Goldilocks' face and hair, as well as her apron and dress. I added a drop shadow off of the letters of the "PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT," not visible in these pictures. So it goes to show, if you stay with it you can come out of the other side a little less frustrated. I am much happier with the piece now than I was last night, and although it isn't exactly how I envisioned it, I am still pleased with the outcome.
I've been so busy the last couple of days that I've forgotten all about internet trolling. I also think I forgot to mention that I shot a video for class with my friends Adrian Gorder and Alex Brown. They are both hilarious, and it was a lot of fun to make, so hopefully I will be able to edit a rough cut tomorrow and perhaps share it with you all. If not, hold your horses, maybe I'd rather take a nap.

Also, as a last reminder to myself more than anyone, post notebook sketches soon. It will give you an insight into what my daily routine looks like when I'm taking notes/ drawing myself future tattoos.

Tut tut and all that good stuff.

PS: This song has been stuck in my head, as well as the Rolex Sweep. I miss my iPod now that it's been stolen, and my cheap headphones... :(
